The Ministry of Energy, in collaboration with Lesotho Electricity Generation Company (LEGCO), and with support from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and the Department of Water, is embarking upon the issues of soil erosion at Ramarothole Solar Generation Plant in Mafeteng district. The soil conservation project utilizes the innovative “FATO-FATO” catchment approach, focusing on rehabilitating degraded lands within the solar plant. Residents from eight surrounding villages, including Ha Ramarothole, Ha Rankapu, Ha Raliemere, Ha Mahali, Qobete, Ha Lempetje, Ha Sebusi, and Makeneng, actively participate as laborers. The project aims to reduce poverty and enhance living standards through job creation while providing education about the local infrastructure. Overall, it signifies a collaborative effort to address environmental challenges and improve the well-being of the communities involved.
