On May 16, 2024, His Majesty King Letsie III launched the partnership between the Lesotho Electricity Generation Company (LEGCO) and ReNOKA. This collaboration aims to enhance the resilience of the Ramarothole solar power plant in Mafeteng through Integrated Catchment Management (ICM). The initiative focuses on improving climate resilience and ensuring sustainable power generation by effectively managing the catchment area.
The Ramarothole solar power plant is threatened by significant erosion, characterized by gullies that endanger the energy infrastructure investment. This erosion has impacted the boundary fence and the foundations of some solar panels. To address these issues, LEGCO, ReNOKA, and GIZ have embarked on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) to protect and increase the resilience of the solar power plant through ICM.
